Autism is something near and dear to my heart since my first born child is autistic. We were all saddened to hear about the awful events prior to Christmas with lives lost of so many children. I don’t even want to focus on the details to draw even more attention to the awful event that unfolded.

What concerns me is that those with autism could possibly be treated differently then they already are. Will parents assume that their children will be capable of the unimaginable? Realistically that is not the case. However will I go and teach my autistic child to use a gun? Not in this lifetime. It is not that I am opposed to guns, it is more that I feel I have a responsibility to do the right thing. In my mind, there are better choices to bond than shooting guns together. How about bowling, roller skating, crafts or swimming? Great ways to bond and much safer.
