Florida residents, Snowbirds and those vacationing in Sanibel Island, Siesta Key, South Beach or anywhere in the state of Florida have a distinct advantage when looking for ways to exercise and keep of the weight. Unfortunately our counterparts in the colder winter climate are unable to enjoy the beaches and warm weather on a whim. Here in Florida there are specific things you can do to stay in shape.

Walking is one of the best ways to exercise bar none. If you live near a beach, state city federal or county park, tourist area or anywhere with a sidewalk you have options. Scour your local area for the most fun place to walk and make a schedule to walk 3-5 times a week.

Many prefer to walk along the bridge overlooking the beautiful view of the water and enjoying the sun catching the light on the water. Another option is to walk around a park or city walkway such as downtown Punta Gorda, Florida. Another way to get your exercise is to check out the many Arts & Crafts fairs and Farmers Markets that are held on weekends in many areas of Florida including North Port, Sarasota, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda.

I prefer to walk after dinner in my subdivision. The weather is pleasant, it is not too hot and I still get in my exercise. The key is to keep moving. Just keep moving.
